At the end of the trek we stop for lunch at Belisirma and afterwards visit the huge Selime Monastery carved out of the rock by monks in the 13th century. Our last stop is at one of the region’s underground cities which have been dug deep underground and contained storage rooms, wine and oil presses and once supported hundreds of the local population who would hide here to escape discovery by invading armies.
