TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
Lindos: This city is known for its clifftop acropolis, which features 4th-century gates and reliefs from about 280 B.C. The Temple of Athena Lindia sits above an earlier temple, and on the site’s lower level is the 14th-century Castle of the Knights of St. John. Among the town’s whitewashed buildings, the Virgin Mary of Lindos Church contains 15th-century frescoes.
Acropolis of Rhodes: One of the finest examples of Hellenic architecture that blends harmoniously with the surrounding environment.
Butterfly Valley: A unique nature reserve, the Butterfly Valley (in Greek “Petaloúdes”) is the site of the only natural forest of Oriental Sweetgum trees in Europe, and a resting point for the Jersey tiger-moth.

Day 2 : RHODES – BUTTERFLIES – CHALKI ISLAND (75 KMS – 3HRS)
Wake up and start your day with breakfast at the hotel. Variety is the name of the game on this vastly contrasted excursion. Get back in touch with nature at a renowned nature reserve before visiting the completely unspoilt and sleepy island of Chalki. Begin with a morning journey to Rhodes’s fertile interior, specifically to the ecological sanctuary that is Butterfly Valley. In this renowned reserve, walk under the canopy of the forest, alongside waterfalls and ponds rich in wildlife. From mid-June to mid-September, it is home to hundreds of thousands of Callimorpha butterflies, attracted by the resin of its storax trees. They make for quite the spectacle. Afterwards, it’s back to the coast where you’ll board your boat to Chalki. This quiet island has pretty houses scattered around the harbour where small fishing boats are moored. Take a walk around enjoying this idyllic location and get a feel for traditional Greek island life. There’ll also be time for a refreshing afternoon swim in Chalki’s crystal-clear waters. At the end of the visit, transfer back to the hotel.

Day 3 : OPTIONAL EXCURSION: TASTES AND TRADITIONS OF RHODES
After breakfast in the hotel, you can either enjoy a free day of leisure or book an optional excursion: Tastes and Traditions of Rhodes. On this optional trip, you’ll get to explore the villages of inland Rhodes and sample some of the island’s most typical dishes. Pretty churches, an olive oil mill and a winery are all on the menu. The fun starts in Asklipio, a charming hillside village built around an ancient castle and an 11th-century church. Next up is Siana, where you’ll get a snapshot of traditional life in the rugged hills away from the coast. After you’ve tried some locally pressed olive oil at a nearby mill, it’s time for a wine tasting in Embona. And then continue to Apollona for a traditional Rhodian lunch followed by a walking tour of the village. In the afternoon, there’s a stop for coffee in Profitis Ilias en route to the dinky and frescoed Byzantine chapel of Agios Nikolaos in Fountoukli. A day that’ll satisfy both your cultural curiosity and your taste buds.

Day 4 : LINDOS & CITY TOUR (50 KM – 1HR)
First thing in the morning, charge your batteries with breakfast in the hotel. Few islands in Greece can match the heritage of Rhodes, and this wealth forms the centrepiece of this tour. Today you’ll go see Lindos and the Rhodes Acropolis, as well as the Castle of the Grand Masters. Kick off with a guided visit to the hillside town of Lindos. Savour the atmosphere of its winding cobbled streets, lined with whitewashed houses and boutiques, and take in the views of St Paul’s Bay far below. At the top of the mountain is the Acropolis, home to the Temple of Athena. Then it’s off to the Acropolis of Rhodes, also known as Monte Smith. Not only will your local guide tell you all about the local myths and legends, but a provided iPad will help bring the ancient monument to life. Heading to Rhodes’ old town, you’ll explore the vast mediaeval Castle of the Grand Masters and stroll along the cobbled Street of the Knights – a journey back to the Middle Ages. At the end of the visit, transfer back to the hotel.

Day 6 : OPTIONAL EXCURSION: DISCOVER SYMI
Breakfast at the hotel is followed by yet another full day of leisure or an optional full-day excursion to Symi. This tour invites you to discover this location’s laidback charm and visit sights such as the Panormitis Monastery and a sponge workshop. The adventure starts with a glide across the Aegean to Symi. The first stop is in the southwest, at the vast Panormitis Monastery. It is famed for its Byzantine frescoes and icon of St Michael but most of all for its location right on the water’s edge. You’ll also have free time to explore the site. Next, sail for the town of Symi itself. The arrival at the harbour is a joy to behold – tiers of pastel-coloured houses pack the surrounding hillsides. You’ll then go on a guided tour of Symi and visit a sponge workshop, where you’ll learn about the island’s sponge diving heritage.

Day 7 : OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS TO MARMARIS
After breakfast at the hotel you can choose to spend one last day of leisure or join an optional tour to a completely different country. Sail across the sea to Turkey and spend the day exploring the buzzing port town of Marmaris and visiting a gold factory on this full-day guided tour. With its pretty harbour and backdrop of pine-clad mountains as well as an Ottoman castle, Marmaris is well worth a visit. Sailing from Rhodes, you’ll take in this gorgeous stretch of Turkey’s coastline as you navigate toward the thriving port of Marmaris. Maybe sample some local delicacies like Turkish delights or enjoy some traditional Turkish tea. Once you’ve got your bearings, it’s off to visit a traditional gold factory. You’ll also explore the old town, with its winding streets and bazaar – jam-packed with shops where you can haggle for some great bargains on leather, gold and designer goods. After all the excitement, there’s a relaxing late-afternoon boat ride back to Rhodes.
